Q : What is a six tatami mat room?
A : tatami is traditional Japanese flooring that is made of woven straw. In Japan,traditionally 'a room' means a six tatami mat (90cm by 180cm / tatami) room.

Q : What is shikikin reikin all about?
A : Translated directly, shikikin means 'deposit money' , or 'key money' . It is similar to a security / damage diposit. This money covers any possible default on rent payments or damage to the property. When renting realestate in Japan, you must pay this deposit to the realestate agency who then hands it over to the landlord. Reikin is a 'gift' or 'thank you money' paid to the landlord. Both of these deposits, shikikin and reikin, can amount to between three and six times the amount of a single monthly rent payment !

Q : We are a couple. Can we stay?
A : Yes. We have some rooms furnished with a double bed. Click Facility to see the room pictures.

Q : I want to see the room (house) beforehand. Is this possible?
A : Please email at room@rent-in-kyoto.com to make an inquiry. Date and time will be discussed.

Q : How do we pay the rent?
A : We accept cash (JP Yen, US dollar and Eur ). No credit cards.

Q : Who cleans the common room?
A : We do not send housekeepers. Clean up after yourself.

Q : Do you provide linens? If so, is there a charge?
A : We do provide free linens. Please clean them by yourself.

Q : How do I get to the house on the first day of my stay?
A : We provide free shuttle service from JR Uzumasa station or follow the directions.

Q : What's the best way to get around town?
A : Cycling is the most convenient way to get point to point besides car or motorcycle.

Q : Do you have parking lot?
A : Yes, free parking lots are available up to two vehicles.

Q : Is it okay if I invite some guests occationally?
A : Guests can visit us occationally but not regularly like staying guests.
